About Water Festival

Water Festival is one of Cambodia’s biggest popular events which is usually held in Phnom Penh with millions of people flock to the city to see boats racing along the river in front of the Royal Palace. At night, people can see spectacularly lit floating signs from many state institutions and ministries. The Water Festival is also the only one major event that brings huge flow of people across provinces to Phnom Penh city unlike Khmer New Year or Pchum Ben events that the city becomes quiet as people leave the city to their hometowns. Even this year, the festival has been cancelled in the city; people still can enjoy the celebration at provinces.
